One of the most hotly contested competitions of the King Edward’s calendar, House Music 2026 did not disappoint!
With a spectacular array of impressive talent, commitment and huge musical energy, our pupils gave their all on the stage last week, treating us to a brilliant show.
A classic mix of never knowingly underdressed and ever so slightly bananas, our line-up for the evening included Batman, Michael Jackson, Shrek and Fiona (still scrubbing that green make up off, we suspect), a gaggle of kung-fu pandas, the Joker, a fabulously sparkly sequinned ghost, a few aliens and, at last count 3 inflatable T-Rexes... and that was just the front row!
Thank you to every sublime soloist, dynamic duo, sensational small group and passionate performer from Edward & Elizabeth, Grafton & Ridley and Tudor & Wakefield Houses for such a fun and fabulous night.

Our latest series of teatime taster sessions for year 5 and 6 pupils is now open for booking.
Led by our subject experts, this autumn our fun and informative discovery sessions explore Mathematics, English, Sport and Design & Technology (DT), and take place on Thursday evenings, 5:30-6:15pm throughout November.

Earlier this week, our Sixth Form prefects launched this year`s Link to Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2026. This wonderful initiative provides practical gifts, essential items, and a message of hope to children, families, and elderly people living in some of Eastern Europe`s poorest communities.
An important pupil-led initiative, every shoebox represents a tangible act of care and can bring comfort, dignity, and joy to someone facing difficult circumstances.
The Link to Hope appeal is a fantastic opportunity for us as a school community to demonstrate kindness, compassion, and citizenship. These values have been the heartbeat of our school since our foundation in 1553.

Last week our governors offered a warm welcome to our bright new starters across all year groups.

Last week we were delighted to be joined by Matt Pinkett, former teacher and acclaimed author for ‘Boys Do Cry, Boys Don’t Try? and ‘Unmasking the Manosphere’.
Candid, relatable, empathetic and humorous, throughout our day Matt engaged every King Edward’s and Barrow Hills pupil from Year 7 through to Year 13, followed by evening sessions with staff and parents. His insights into mental health, academic performance and the socio-cultural challenges faced by young people today were fascinating, covering some of those really challenging issues that perhaps it might be more tricky for young people to talk about with friends and family.
